How to Apply

Biomedical Graduate Education master’s, Ph.D. and certificate programs use Georgetown University’s online application. Each program has its own requirements.

Deadlines

Master’s and Certificates – Fall Entry

• October 15: Early Application deadline* – apply early to waive the application fee.
• May 15: Priority Application deadline* – recommended for scholarship consideration and for international applicants who will need to apply for a U.S. visa.
• July 1: Final deadline – you may still be considered for scholarships.

*Not all programs offer this deadline; visit your program’s Admissions page to confirm.

Master’s and Certificates – Spring Entry

• October 15: Early Application deadline* – apply early to waive the application fee.
• November 1: Final deadline – we encourage you to review our available scholarships and consider applying.

Ph.D. – Summer or Fall Entry

• December 1: Final deadline

• 4-year bachelor’s degree or equivalent
• Grade point average of 3.0 or higher
• Nonrefundable application fee (view information about the application fee and fee waiver requests)
• Academic statement of purpose
• Transcripts
• 3 letters of recommendation
• GRE/MCAT Score (if applicable)
• TOEFL/IELTS Score (if applicable)

  Specific Program Requirements

  Application requirements vary by program — particularly the number of letters of recommendation required and graduate exams accepted. Some programs may also require supplemental forms. Contact the program directly about the application process specific to the program.

  Deferral Request

  Applicants may request a deferral of admission for up to one calendar year. Deferral requests are reviewed by the program to which you applied, and approval is not guaranteed. Make your request through the Deferral Request Form.

  Please note only one deferral of admission is allowed. If after a deferral you would like to be considered for another future term, you must submit a new application.
